PAH & Reach Compliant Rubber
EU legislation means many items cannot have any more than 200mg of PAH (Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons).
New EU legislation has now been brought into effect which states that wheels and castors (among many other common items) cannot have any more than 200mg of PAH (Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons). The European Commission has published the Regulation (EU) No.1272/2013 to amend Entry 50 of Annex XVII to REACH Regulation (EC) No.1907/2006 on the restrictions of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAH). The new requirements came into force on 27 December 2015.
These PAHs are now proven to have a carcinogenic effect and therefore deemed extremely dangerous. The PAH is used in the rubber curing process and many of the cheaper rubber wheels use far more as it makes them cure quicker. It’s the familiar paint like smell you associate with rubber that is the PAH. AUT was the first UK manufacturer to offer 100% PAH and REACH compliant rubber wheels into the marketplace.
As there are varying levels of PAH available please enquire with us and we can discuss what level you require and the application in question.
